DeMuro Das, the multi-disciplinary design firm founded by Brian DeMuro and Puru Das, will be exhibiting at the HD Expo Conference for the first time this May. A variety of product showcasing the studio's capabilities in metal-working, semi-precious stone marquetry, upholstery and wood working, will be on display, including the release of the Gem Low cabinet, encased entirely in silver pyrite.
Product standouts include the Nami Cabinet, which was inspired by sand-cast Dhokra sculptures made by nomadic communities in Central India. Using this traditional technique as a starting point, DeMuro Das's casting foundry worked tirelessly to craft Nami’s pattern, starting from coiled string and cast into its solid bronze doors. Also featured are pieces from the Demi Collection, featuring exquisite stone marquetry comprising semi-precious finishes such as claret dolomite and vesuvianite. The Demi Collection gets its name from the irregularly placed cylindrical legs that are bisected and inset into its rounded tops, forming a half-circle at each joint. Lastly, the Moore Coffee Table pairs a rectilinear stone slab with an architectural base of solid brass, the gentle curves of which evoke two abstract hyperbolas. Hand-hammered to capture the impact of the artisan, these metal supports hook onto the top, as if intersecting its elegant surface.
